The “Hadak Útja” (The Warriors’ Path) hiking series, organized by HVIM, will return in 2026 with several new features. Next year, those wishing to combine physical activity with remembrance will be welcomed at eight locations instead of the previous seven. Additional changes will also come into effect: to earn the Comrades’ Memorial Medal, it will be sufficient to complete six of the eight hikes. In this article, we have compiled all the key information provided by the organizers.
As we have come to expect, the organizers always have something new and improved in store compared to previous years. 2026 will be no exception: throughout the year, the organizing team has worked to elevate the “Hadak Útja” hiking series—revived two years ago—to a professional level. According to them, they continuously monitor hikers’ needs and strive to develop a concept that makes participation in the series more comfortable, while remaining fully committed to its core objective: staying worthy of the spirit of the heroes.
The first and most noticeable change is the expansion of the event series. While the “Hadak Útja” consisted of seven hikes in 2025, it will expand to eight stages next year, and the completion requirements will be adjusted accordingly. Previously, participants had to complete all hikes to receive the commemorative certificate and the Comrades’ Memorial Medal (in addition to the rich experiences). In 2026, however, successful completion of the “Hadak Útja” hiking series will require participation in only six of the eight hikes, meaning that 100% attendance will no longer be mandatory. The award structure will reflect this change: completing 6 out of 8 hikes will earn a Bronze level, 7 out of 8 a Silver level, and the Gold level—naturally—will require full completion of all 8 hikes.
“Bakonyi Áttörés 64” (Bakony Breakthrough 64)
A brand-new hike will debut as part of the “Hadak Útja” hiking series. While the organizers have not yet revealed all the details, they did share some encouraging information. The “Bakonyi Áttörés” will faithfully reflect the HVIM attitude and the lifelong, continuous struggle to which every member of HVIM dedicates their life. From the name, it is easy to infer that the event will take place in the Bakony region and will include a 64 km route. We are eagerly awaiting further details, which are expected to be announced at the beginning of next year.
As in every year, the “Hadak Útja” will once again start in Balassagyarmat in 2026, and on-site registration will only be available at this location. At the same time, the organizers will also accept registrations by email, sent to [email protected].
The experience itself will remain unchanged: as before, quality will continue to be the top priority. The almost excessive gastronomic experience will not be missing in 2026 either, and at the start and finish points participants will once again encounter DUO GLADII magazine and other publications. There will also be an opportunity to express interest in joining the organization.
